Designed after ambulances in the 1980s, this workhorse has remained nearly the same for three decades. Though it’s seen small changes, like the addition of a feeding window, countless technological and design advancements have passed it by. Recognizing the ERV’s truly lifesaving role, we decided it was time to give it an overhaul. Engaging industrial designers and Red Cross volunteers, we’ve rethought everything about these critical vehicles, working from the chassis up. The resulting changes are more than “bells and whistles.” They have made our ERVs more efficient, more
visible and inviting, and much more helpful to survivors during some of life’s darkest moments.
