Support UNICEF’s Response to the Earthquakes in Myanmar

チャリティ活動名 UNICEF USA

On March 28, 2025, a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar followed by an aftershock of magnitude 6.4. The earthquake and aftershocks caused widespread destruction across central Myanmar, including Mandalay, Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Bago, and Shan regions. More than 2,700 people are confirmed dead, over 4,500 injured and over 440 are reported missing.

UNICEF teams are on the ground in the hardest-hit areas, working with partners and local responders to assess needs and deliver emergency assistance. The earthquake has damaged homes, schools, health facilities and water supply infrastructure, which disrupted critical services for children. Nearly 1,600 houses, 670 monasteries, 60 schools, and three bridges are reported to be damaged. Landslides and collapsed roads have left many communities without electricity and mobile connectivity.

These earthquakes exacerbate the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Myanmar. Even before the earthquake, 20 million people, including over 6.5 million children were in need of humanitarian assistance, with one in three displaced people a child.

UNICEF needs your support to continue its outreach for children and families. Soon after the earthquake, UNICEF released and delivered lifesaving supplies from its warehouses in Yangon and Mandalay to the hardest-hit areas including mobilizing 80 metric tons of life-saving supplies, including health kits, medical supplies, tents, and hygiene kits such as soap, sanitary pads, and disinfectants. UNICEF has also begun water trucking to bring much-needed clean drinking water to families and stem the risk of disease.

Now more than ever, your support is critical to continuing UNICEF’s work in emergencies.
