In just a few days, over 100,000 Syrians and Lebanese—60% of whom are children and youth—have crossed the borders into Syria. This sudden surge has overwhelmed the ability of humanitarian agencies to respond. The government of Lebanon estimates that 1 million people have been affected by the latest escalation. UNHCR is on the ground, delivering life-saving aid, including over 40,000 emergency relief items at the Syrian border, but our resources are being stretched beyond capacity.
