Hurricane Milton strengthened to a Category 5 storm on 7 October, with sustained winds of 160 mph, as it continues to move over the Gulf of Mexico. Landfall is expected in the middle of the week, likely late Wednesday, along Florida's already storm-battered west coast.
Greyshirts volunteers in Pasco County who were responding after Hurricane Helene have since moved to Georgia to help with our response there in preparation for Milton's landfall. Right now, we are mobilizing a route clearance team to clear debris from roads to allow livesaving work by assisting first responders and survivors. This team will be positioned just outside the storm's path, ready to deploy after the storm passes.
