Help Support UNICEF's Emergency Relief in Vanuatu

来自 UNICEF USA

In early April 2020, Tropical Cyclone Harold tore across the Pacific Islands, causing the worst destruction in Vanuatu after making landfall as a category 5 cyclone with sustained winds of more than 200 km/h. Roads, hospitals, schools, homes and churches suffered significant damage across the northern and central islands of Maewo, Pentecost, Ambae and Santo. Approximately 76,700 people, including 20,200 children, live in the hardest-hit areas, representing nearly 30% of the country’s population.

Responding to this cyclone is especially difficult due to border closures and lockdowns resulting from the global COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these challenges, UNICEF is supporting government efforts, providing emergency supplies (including water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) kits and integrated emergency health kits) and technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and Department of Water Resources. To reach communities on the islands of Santo and Pentecost, UNICEF is transporting supplies by boat.

Whenever disasters threaten children, UNICEF is there. But we can't do it without you. On behalf of the children of Vanuatu, thank you for your support!
