Washington State Wildfires | Children's Emergency Fund

, SAVE THE CHILDREN FEDERATION INC

Washington state is facing a growing wildfire crisis as fast-moving fires burn across central and eastern parts of the state, threatening homes, schools, communities and children's well-being.

In Spokane and Stevens Counties alone, more than 60,000 people have been forced to evacuate as more than 600 homes, businesses and other structures were destroyed in less than 24 hours.

Save the Children is responding to meet the urgent needs of children and families affected by the fires.

In coordination with Washington state agencies, Tribal governments and local partners, we're focused on:
• Providing emergency cash assistance to affected families
• Distributing critical items, including diapers, wipes and hygiene kits
• Ensuring children return to learning quickly by supporting damaged child-care facilities
• Supporting children’s well-being through child-friendly spaces and mental health support services
Save the Children has been working in Washington state since 2008 to support over 77,000 children in rural communities. Last year, we supported children and families affected by one of the most destructive flooding events in the state’s history.

As the nation's leading disaster response agency for children, we've responded to every major U.S. disaster since Hurricane Katrina. Your support of our U.S. Children’s Emergency Fund enables our response to the Washington state wildfires and other emergencies across the United States.
