Help Support UNICEF's Emergency Relief in Albania

, UNICEF USA

UNICEF is on the ground in Albania, where a 6.4-magnitude earthquake has put children at risk. UNICEF is there providing protection and education to the country's most vulnerable children, setting up child-friendly spaces in Durrës as well as temporary learning spaces (preschools and school classes for grades 1-5) within the hotels hosting those affected.

With your support, UNICEF will set up four back-to-school learning spaces in Durrës Hotels, providing school materials (including desks, chairs, text books, notebooks, pens, flipcharts, plastic carpets, and crayons) for preschool and primary-age children. The purchased equipment will later be transferred to preschools and schools when the temporary shelters are closed.

In the medium-term, UNICEF will be there for children as they return to school, with plans in place to set up child-friendly spaces in 20 schools and complete light repair work on schools affected in Thumane, Lezhe, Durrës, and Tirane. Further, “Back to School” training of 200 teachers and 50 school psychologists will be conducted to support return to normalcy activities for 3,000 children.

Whenever disasters threaten children, UNICEF is there. But we can't do it without you. On behalf of the children of Albania, thank you for your support!
