PWNA COVID-19

by PARTNERSHIP WITH NATIVE AMERICANS

As the world continues to grapple with the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic, communities in Indian Country are working to address their own unique challenges in combatting the coronavirus.

You see, COVID-19 is more of a threat to Native Americans on the reservations. This is because there are limited stores, limited food supplies and limited access to safe drinking water or clean water for washing hands. Housing is overcrowded making social distancing less feasible, and the threat is exaggerated by limited healthcare facilities and staffing.

We need to do everything we can to make sure that Native Americans don’t get left behind.

In addition to the tribes with travel restrictions, our year-round partners throughout Indian Country are depending on PWNA to continue our deliveries to help address immediate needs. Our warehouse distribution center teams in South Dakota and Phoenix are working tirelessly to process requests and our drivers are putting in the maximum number of driving hours allowed by DOT to ensure we reach communities quickly.

Unfortunately, with all the requests, our warehouse supplies are running low and donations to PWNA are critical so that we can quickly replenish our food, water, toilet paper, paper towels, sanitizer and other essentials. Helping us spread the word is also critical, as the COVID-19 scenario only highlights the pre-existing disparities in Native nutrition and health.

Now more than ever, we urge Americans to come together and help those most in need. Please know your contribution will make a world of difference.
