Reservation Animal Rescue (Program of Partnership With Native Americans)

by PARTNERSHIP WITH NATIVE AMERICANS

Partnership with Native Americans (PWNA) through its Reservation Animal Rescue (RAR) program, supports animal care partners with a commitment to compassionate, humane treatment, including finding these animals forever homes and ensuring the health and safety of their communities.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Reservation Animal Rescue is still delivering essential pet supplies such as food, bedding, and cleaning supplies; supporting vaccinations, spay/neuter services; and education on proper pet care.
These homeless cats and dogs live short, hard lives on the reservations, and they never die of “old age.” With few resources to help them, animals who are abandoned, or never had a loving home in the first place, count on us to take action and save them from these harsh cruelties they have been forced to endure.

While dogs are often thought of as “man’s best friend,” they have a history of being so much more within Native American cultures. Over the years, their responsibilities have included hunting, guarding and even pulling sleds – they have long been considered essential members of their communities. Today, that close relationship with our beloved animals continues. Unfortunately, some tribes face significant overpopulation of animals and the challenges that brings, on top of still combating the restrictions of COVID-19.

The overpopulation of animals is a growing concern, specifically when it comes to dogs and cats. The Navajo Nation alone has thousands of stray dogs and cats roaming their lands. These homeless animals are often hungry, have broken bones or infections, and in need of a loving home and veterinary care.

Partnership with Native Americans (PWNA). through its Reservation Animal Rescue (RAR) program, supports animal care partners with a commitment to compassionate, humane treatment, including finding these animals forever homes and ensuring the health and safety of their communities. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Reservation Animal Rescue is still delivering essential supplies such as food, collars, bowls and leashes; supporting spay and neuter services; and supporting education on proper animal care. Some partners operate mobile clinics on the reservations to provide reduced-cost spay and neuter services and vaccinations, which are subsidized by RAR.

Challenges and suffering continue for many animals that are underweight, have poor coats or have been obviously chained – and many are dumping at the reservation border by out-of-towners. It is good that owners are bringing pets in for their surgeries/vaccinations, but the standard of care can improve even more with education and support. All these services are offered through the tax-deductible donations made by our loyal supporters, people like you.

Reservation Animal Rescue is working tirelessly to support animals of the reservations and our partners who rescue them. Please consider partnering with RAR to give these animals the needed food, medical care and love that they deserve. Your tax-deductible gift today can help save lives, and by sharing this letter, you can make sure others know about the needs of reservation animals.
