AMAZON CONSERVATION ASSOCIATION

Washington, District of Columbia

Our Mission is to unite science, innovation, and people to protect the western Amazon – the greatest wild forest on Earth. For the past 20 years, Amazon Conservation has worked on the ground in Peru and Bolivia, focusing on protecting wild places, empowering local people and putting science and technology to work for conservation. We currently employ satellite technology real-time monitoring across all 9 countries that make up the Amazon to expose deforestation and illegal gold mining, and directly protect more than 9.3 million acres through the creation and management of conservation areas. In the areas we protect, there have been 30 new-to-science species discovered at our conservation hubs, where scientific research, academic study, and tourism meet. Join us in uniting technology, community, and land protection to keep the Amazon thriving.

The Amazon Conservation Association (ACA) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that is focused on protecting wild places, empowering people, and putting science and technology to work for conservation. The organization is notable for its healthy financials, spending 90% directly on its programs.

Our directors and staff are experienced ecologists and conservationists. We work to protect biodiversity by studying ecosystems and developing innovative conservation tools to protect land in the region while supporting the livelihoods of local communities.
