The Nature Conservancy in Nevada

by Nature Conservancy

From Red Rock Canyon in the Mojave Desert to the Truckee River in the high Sierra, The Nature Conservancy has protected Nevada’s lands and waters since 1984. We address the most urgent conservation challenges at the largest scale by pursuing collaborative, pragmatic, lasting solutions for people and nature. Our vision is to leave a sustainable Nevada for future generations.

Building upon conservation successes in Southern Nevada that include Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, the Muddy River, and the Amargosa River in the Oasis Valley, today the Conservancy is working to ensure the best available science is applied to decision-making for land and water use across the Mojave Desert.

Additionally, we are actively building and engaging a new constituency for conservation among residents and visitors to Southern Nevada, while supporting critical, urban conservation and restoration goals that benefit nature and the communities where we live work and play.
