South Sudan: Send Emergency Aid to Save Refugees' Lives

by US Association for UNHCR (UN Refugee Agency)

Spiraling violence, conflict and a severe food shortage have endangered millions of lives in South Sudan, and more than 2.2 million have been forced to flee their homes.

Engulfed by a civil war that has displaced millions since December 2013, South Sudan now faces looming life-threatening food shortages. Millions more are at risk of malnutrition, but on-going clashes between militant groups, along with heavy rains, have hampered the delivery of life-saving aid.

The humanitarian catastrophe is fueling a refugee exodus into neighboring countries. Families have been torn apart. Thousands of frightened children are on their own and many of the refugees are arriving malnourished, sick and traumatized.

UNHCR has mounted a massive response throughout the region to shelter the displaced, care for desperate women and children and rush aid to the most vulnerable. Your support is necessary to continue providing lifesaving services to South Sudanese men, women, and children forced to flee their homes. Thank you for your compassion for refugees, and your incredible generosity.
